The Pursgloves of Hackney - [HACK]

The borough of Hackney was formed in 1965. it was made up of Upper and Lower Clapton, Stamford Hill, Stoke Newington, Hackney Wick, Homerton and Hackney Marshes.  The church of St John-at-Hackney stands in the town centre.  The Church of St John the Baptist was rededicated in 1660, it was previously St Augustine's Church.

This area has a history recorded from Roman times.  It is a residential area with a number of ethnic minority communities, including Jewish, Turkish and Kurdish cultures.
