The Pursgloves of Ashford - [ASHF]

Near to Bakewell, Ashford in the Water is a small village with a market cross and a 13th century parish church.  It lies on the River Wye, having a listed packhorse bridge "The Sheepwash Bridge".

Ashford Black Marble was mined here, bringing much needed wealth into the area to support the subsistence farming economy.
