The Pursgloves of Baslow - [BASL]

St Anns Church, Baslow is a 14th century church in origin.  It was extensively restored by the Duke of Devonshire in 1852-53 and its unusual clock was added in 1897 to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.  In some old sources the chapel of St James is also noted as a Baslow church.  This could be an earlier dedication of St Anns.

Baslow has developed under the shadow of the Chatsworth Estate and is a predominantly farming area, now an attractive Derbyshire tourist spot.
