Pursgloves of Chesterfield - [CHES]

Chesterfield is home to the famous 14th Century Crucked Spire of St. Mary and All Saints Church.

The name comes from the Latin word 'Caester' which describes grazing land.  First evidence of a settlement came with a Roman Fort on the site in the 1st Century AD.  There has been a market charter since 1204 AD and this has established Chesterfield as an important shopping and trading centre in this part of Derbyshire.

Industrial development of mining and engineering has been key to the development of the modern town.  Markham and Co. were the manufacturers of the boring machines that drilled the Channel Tunnel.  There is also a significant food and confection manufacturing base.
