The Will of John Pursglove of Shirland

 

This is the last Will and Testament of John Pursglove of Shirland in the County of Derbyshire.  I hereby give to my Grandchildren Sarah Pursglove, Eliza Pursglove, Thomas Pursglove, John Pursglove, Emma Pursglove and Susannah Pursglove, any houses situated at Goose Green, Shirland; but they are not to be mortgaged nor sold and the last survivor of the above is to receive all of the said houses.  I also desire that the rents of the houses be put in the Alfreton Bank till the youngest is 21 years old, when the money in the said bank shall be equally divided amongst them, except £19 which I leave to Mary Pursglove but should she die before reaching the age of 21 years this shall be divided amongst them.  I hereby approve Mr. William Butterworth and Mr Joseph Robinson Executors of this my will.  In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twelfth day of January one thousand and eight hundred and seventy six - John Pursglove  X  his mark - signed by the  said John Pursglove in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence and in the presence of each other attest and  subscribe our own names as witness hereto - Joseph Hays, Shirland - John Newbury,

 

John Pursglove, a framework knitter, died at Shirland on 24 March 1876.  This will was proved at derby on 12 April 1876 by William Butterworth, to whom administration was granted.  The value of his effects was less than £100.
