The Pursgloves of Eakring - [EAKR]

An open field system existed at this site suggesting an early agricultural community.  Much of this evidence was lost when oil drilling started during the second world war. St. Andrew's church is a 13th century building with a major 15th century rebuild.

During the 1930's geological drilling had established that oil was held in an anticline at Eakring.  In 1943, Oil production started at Eakring Oil with around 100 well heads.  This industry was established to supply oil during the second world war at the height of the U-boat attacks in the Atlantic..
