The Pursgloves of Hastings - [HAST]
Hastings was known to be a Roman port in 55 BC. The town was recorded as Hastingas in the 8th century and it was one of the Medieval Cinque Ports, having an important roll in trade and commerce. The town is best known as the landing place of Williams forces at the Norman Conquest in 1066.
All Saints church is in the Old town - There is also a newer All Saints church nearby, and Emmanuel Church is located on the inland side of the town. Holy Trinity Church is situated near the sea front. St. Leonards-on-Sea has been a district of Hastings since the 19th century and it has its own parish church of St. Leonards.
