The Pursgloves of Ripe - [RIPE]

Chalvington with Ripe is a civil parish of which Ripe is the larger of the two villages.  This was a wool trade village developed around a Roman road.  The land was owned by Earl Harold, later King Harold who died at the Battle of Hastings.

St John the Baptist church is a 13th century building with later additions.
