The Pursgloves of Austerfield - [AUST]


Ouestraefeld
is Germanic for eastern field.  This settlement is known from 702 AD situated on the boundary between the kingdoms of Marcia and Northumbria, close to Bawtry and the River Idle.  There was a Saxon church at this settlement.  The present church of St Helena's dates to Norman times and records are held from 1559..
